Tanner-Coyle-Ch.1-2

I found these chapters, and the premise of this book extremely interesting. I have the opportunity of teaching some students music lessons for work, and therefore am exposed to various different levels of musical “talent”. A question I have asked myself, and others have asked me, is about how those talents are developed, and why certain people have more of it than others. I am thinking of one student who, when they first began lessons, was almost completely unable to match pitch.Reading the chapters, it was interesting to see just how specific circumstances are what creates the brain’s ability to do something. As we all know, the voice is less tangible/visible and therefore more difficult to manipulate, but with practice I have seen vast improvements in this student. I can only assume that that is due to consistent practice. I am curious to keep reading, and hopefully gain more strategies to teach and practice deep practice.
